Business... and Pleasure!

While at work I get lots and lots of phone calls throughout the day but this morning I got a super exciting call: I had been nominated and also confirmed to attend a conference for work in... SAN FRANCISCO!
Whoo hoo!

But like many good things, there was a catch: I had to decide whether or not I planned to attend of the conference in 30 minutes!  Turns out that a formal invitation should have been sent to me during January but for some reason or another I never got the invitation, and I needed to RSVP ASAP!
Whaa? San Francisco? I need to decide now? Whaa? As I thought about it, and began to process everything I texted the Mister who responded very quickly: "Go! thats so great!! go!"  And then I thought to myself, "Of course I should go! I was selected to go... what a great opportunity! San Francisco!  How exciting!"

So I made the phone call!
Looks like I'm heading to San Francisco!

To celebrate the Year of the Rabbit (and also because I love any occasion to celebrate) I organized a little lunch for some of my co-workers.  Our lunch consisted of rice, orange chicken, beef chow fun with black been sauce, steamed fish fillets, crispy gau gee, baby bock choy, and an assortment of dim sum!
Our celebration was not fancy or over the top, but the food was delicious and it was such a treat to spend some quality time with some great work friends.  It looks like the Year of the Rabbit has gotten off to a wonderful start!

A Puzzling Gift

When I put "be able to solve a Rubix cube" on my Thirty Before 30 list I immediately put "buy a Rubix cube" on another list, "Things I Need for my TB30 List." And so can you guess how excited I was when I got to my desk this morning a surprise was waiting for me... a Rubix cube!

I thought a co-worker who knew about my list had put it there... nope!

Apparently, everyone in the office got one - it was a marketing gift from one of our wholesalers!  Yeah!  I plan to leave my lil Rubix cube on my desk -  perfect, orderly, and untouched... for now :)

I got a Chocolate Glazed Donut in my Coffee!

I have tried to decrease my caffeine consumption, but some days, like today, require a cup of joe.  Thanks to one of the residents of Purple City our office has a Keurig coffee maker and thankfully I am spared from drinking our regular office coffee.

The Keurig brews each cup of coffee fresh from little pods called K-cups. There are so many different flavored pods to choose from but currently my favorite is the Donut House's Chocolate Glazed Doughnut!! YUM!

Welcome to Pink City!

Today was the second day in our new office.  Day One was a little frustrating for most people: the computers weren't working properly, online files were missing, not all the supplies were in, etc. but we survived.

The Bad: For most of Day One I was locked out of my computer and the tech guys weren't able to do much to help me.

The Good: I got to spend some quality time decorating and organizing my desk!

Our desks and work area are very grey.  I like grey, don't me wrong, but it can feel rather dreary when you are stacked between people and surrounded my metal "build-a-desks."  To make my work area more cheery, I decided to infuse the space with a pop of pink.

Quickly my area has become dubbed "Pink City!" A few friends have even contributed to the decor of Pink City by giving me pink white out, folders, fancy magnets, and a key holder!!! (Thanks Ladies!!)

I would like to give a shout out to the residents of Purple City!

Here are a couple other pictures from around the office:

We are still waiting on the plants and artwork to get delivered so please excuse the the bare walls!

Boxes, boxes, and boxes (times 3)

Tomorrow is the "Big Day," so today I had to finish packing up all of my files and personal items to get ready for the "Big Move." When all of my packing was done and labeled I had a total of 9 boxes, 2 shelves, and a printer. I certainly hope all 9 boxes, 2 shelves, and printer make it to my new desk.
*fingers crossed*

Everything In Its Place

In the quest for great desk accessories, after work today, I went to Office Depot, Office Max, and Target.  Although I was most impressed by the magnet and push pin and magnet selection at Office Depot, I really got excited about Peter Walsh's collection of the desk accessories at Office Max.

My only critique is that I wish there was color or patterns in this collection...

My favorite find: an erasable PERMANENT (non-smudge-able) pen! Oooh!

New Office, New View

Today a few co-workers and I went to the "new office" to scope out our space.  The tech people and some builders were still setting things up when we arrived so I measured my desk and then tried to stay out of their way.  I wasn't able to spend much time in my space but I took some great pictures from our lobby!
